Christian Living in the Home is now fully summarized
is a very helpful tool for those who want to learn to counsel biblically. Written by Jay Adams, it offers a model for counseling that is all together different from 'Christian psychology.' Rather than adding a few Bible passages and a few prayers to a secular model of counseling, Adams starts from Scripture, continues with Scritpure, and ends with Scriptures to develop a purely biblical model for counseling.

A helpful article on the importance of going to Scripture to listen to the voice of God
Gary-Gilley is the Pastor-Teacher of Southern View Chapel in Springfield, Illinois. I have read many of his book reviews and articles, and I always greatly appreciate them. I highly recommend his stuff. I just read his article called, 'The Lord Told Me - I Think.' In the article he considers the commonly held notion that God communicates to us today outside of Scripture. He lists 'three compeitors now challenging the Scriptures as final authority in our lives': subjective experience, non-authoritative and fallible prophecy (as espoused by Wayne Grudem), and the 'inner' voice.

Let the peace of Christ rule your heart

The wife's role of submission
A couple of weeks ago I preached on the wife's role of sumbitting to her husband. The sermon came in an expositional series on the Book of Colossians. Chapter 3, verse 18 says, 'Wives be subject to your husbands as if fitting in the Lord.' It is amazing how simple the verse reads but how difficult the truth is for people to accept. Knowing people would struggle to accept Paul's clear statement in Colossians, I went on to explain the teaching on the wife's role of submitting to her husband as it is given throughout Scripture.

Remember to ask for knowledge when you pray
In Colossians 1:9 the apostle Paul tells the Colossians how he prays for them. He makes a single request - a request for knowledge. Apparently, Paul believed knowledge is important for living the Christian life. However, it wasn't just regular old knowledge. Let's take a look.

Comments regarding accountability groups
True biblical fellowship always involves some accountability. When you keep a person accountable you find out how he is doing, pray for him, admonish him if necessary, comfort him, teach him, and encourage him. An effective accountability will provide opportunities for each of these biblical responsibilities.
