John B. Leuzarder has written a wonderful book which will be a great help to parents explain the gospel to their children.  What greater responsibility do parents have than to help their children embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Overview of the book

The title page says it is "a simple, yet complete guide to help parents teach their children the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

The book is about 40 pages.  There is a one page preface, a one-page explanation for how to use the book, about 35 pages of gospel presentation, a one-page summary of the gospel, a one-page conclusion, and two pages of memory aids.

Strong points of the book

Parents will find the book to be extremely helpful for a variety of reasons.

The whole gospel is presented.  The writer does not over-emphasize the easy truths of the gospel (God loves you, Christians go to heaven, etc.).  Nor does he under-emphasize the hard truths of the gospel (God punishes all sin, God is holy, you must count the cost of following Christ, etc.).  It is well-balanced and biblical.

The truths are accompanied by great illustrations – pictures.  Each truth has a colorful picture next to it which will help children understand and remember the truths.  The two pages of memory aids at the end of the book consist of these same illustrations which will provide a fun way for children to review the gospel.

The author gives good practical advice to parents.  Leuzarder is sympathetic to parents who want to put pressure on their children to “get saved.”  He gives helpful warnings to them to be patient.  Parents should encourage their children to be saved, continually offer to talk further with their children about the gospel, and look for evidence of God’s transforming work of grace in their children.

Weak points of the book

It costs money.

Parents, buy this book and use it.
