Day 3: The Power of The Holy Spirit Lives in Us

Theme: The power is not distant—it’s indwelling.

Key Bible Verse:

John 14:16-17, "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. Even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

Reflection:

We often look for power outside ourselves—through people, achievements, or answers. But the most potent force in the universe now resides with us. The power that overcame the grave now enables us to overcome sin, trauma, fear, and limitations. The Old Testament shows the Spirit's activities before His New Testament ministry. He appeared to people for specific purposes, inspired Scripture, and revealed God's plan. Ezekiel's ministry began with a powerful Spirit encounter. Ezekiel 2:2 says, “Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me.” Understanding ancient manifestations helps us understand the Holy Spirit in us today.

Even now, we have the Holy Spirit residing within us. Paul discloses a miraculous truth in Romans 8:9: "The Spirit of God dwells in you." To be a Christian, we must have the Holy Spirit residing within us. This means that He is the most important thing, or more accurately, the most important person, for our faith. The language of intimacy is used by Paul to refer to the Spirit as "dwelling in you." The term that Paul employs is the primary word for "house." God the Spirit "dwells" in us intimately; as a family, we dwell together in a house, but He "dwells" everywhere fundamentally. In the words of Thomas Manton, "He is in them, as he is nowhere else." Consider this. The Spirit of God now resides "in you," just as God once uniquely resided in the tabernacle and the temple, in a way that was unparalleled on the earth. We also use this language of constancy to refer to the Spirit residing "in you." The Holy Spirit does not simply descend upon or accompany you, as it did in the past, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ today. He resides permanently within you. In John 14:16, Jesus declared that He would send the Spirit to remain with us indefinitely. To put it simply, the Spirit is not merely a transient houseguest, a vacationer, or a visitor to us; He is a resident.

Bible Verses:

Joel 2:28, “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

1 Corinthians 2:10, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.”

Romans 8:9, “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

Romans 8:1-17, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Declaration of Faith:

The Holy Spirit now dwells in me for enormous exploits to advance the Kingdom of God on earth.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I am available. Manifest Your purpose in my life for Your glory. Amen.

Hope to Hold:

This Spirit dwells in me.

Questions to Reflect On:

Do I truly believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in me?

How can I explore more of His presence?

Action Step:

Set some time apart to discover and communicate with the Holy Spirit using scriptures.
