The True Language of Sacrifice: The Cross - Day 1: The Cost of Love

A Journey of Reflection Before Good Friday

The Cross - A Symbol of Love
The Cross - A Symbol of Love

Focus: God’s love language is sacrifice.

Scripture: John 3:16— “For“ God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

Reflection: Before the nails, there was a decision — love chose the cross. This wasn’t an accident; it was an intentional expression of how far God would go to rescue you. Love paid a price that justice demanded. God doesn’t just speak love — He demonstrates it through sacrifice. His love is not passive or abstract; it is active, intentional, and costly. Brethren, sacrifice is the truest language of divine love. It is not expressed in words alone but in action — in giving, in laying down, in choosing the painful path when comfort was an option. When we look at the cross, we see not just a tool of Roman execution but a canvas of God's passionate, redeeming love for us.

God didn’t send an angel. He didn’t write a love letter in the sky. He loves us so much that He gave His only Son— the most precious relationship in all eternity. Love cost Him something — everything. And love still costs something today.

  • The Father gave the Son.

  • The Son gave His life.

  • The Holy Spirit gives us daily strength, comfort, and conviction.

God’s love is not shallow or superficial. It bleeds. It endures rejection. It goes first. It always gives. This is the heartbeat of heaven. Embrace it today to experience your unique completion in Christ. Share it with others to win their hearts and souls for Christ.

Bible Verses:

  • Romans“ 5:8 - God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

  • 1 John 4:10 – “ This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

  • 1 John" 15:13—"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

  • Matthew 20:28 - The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.

Declarations:

I am loved with an everlasting love. Christ chose the cross for me.

I am deeply loved by God, who paid the ultimate price for me. Because of this love, I choose to live sacrificially. My life will speak the language of heaven — the language of love through giving.

I will love in action today. Love is not just words; it is the sacrificial actions I will take.

Questions:

  • What does God’s sacrificial love mean to me personally?

  • How do I reflect that love in my daily life?

  • What am I willing to sacrifice today for the others?
